Sentry’s mantra, which is quickly adopted by our portfolio companies, is as follows: to manage the business, you must be able to measure its performance. In accordance with this theme, Sentry works with the portfolio company’s senior management team to develop key performance measurement tools tailored to the needs of the business. In addition, Sentry works with the company’s accounting department to refine financial statement presentation and to establish financial statement issuance deadlines.
At the operational level, reports are generated by the company and used by management to measure performance and take any necessary corrective action. At the bigger picture level, other reports are reviewed by executive management (and secondarily by Sentry) to ensure that the overall direction and progress of the company is consistent with the business plan.
