Scott F. Young (age 51): Mr. Young, J.D., is the Chief Operating Officer of Sentry, in which capacity he is responsible for managing Sentry’s Equipment Finance Program Division, including establishing and maintaining Sentry’s equipment finance programs and its relationships with participating financial institutions, managing Sentry’s Remarketing Department, and managing the day-to-day operations of the Division. Mr. Young co-founded Sentry and is a member of Sentry’s Investment Committee.
Prior to re-joining Sentry in 1998, Mr. Young was a partner with the law firm of Parr, Waddoups, Brown, Gee & Loveless (www.pwlaw.com), where his practice emphasized commercial litigation and the areas of equipment financing and general business and corporate law. Prior to joining Parr Waddoups, Mr. Young was the general counsel of a regional equipment finance company based in Salt Lake City, Utah. Mr. Young also served a one year judicial clerkship with Chief Justice Durham of the Utah Supreme Court and was associated with Amembal, Deane & Associates: Lease Education and Consulting (formerly Amembal & Isom) for fifteen years. During the course of his association with that company, Mr. Young was an editor of the legal documentation chapter of the Guide to Captive Finance Company Equipment Leasing (1984), and co-authored the lease documentation chapter of The Handbook of Equipment Leasing (1988). In addition, for several years, Mr. Young was an instructor for Leasing: A Survey of the Law and Basic Documentation, one of the public seminars offered by Amembal, Deane & Associates.
Mr. Young graduated from the University of Utah College of Business with an undergraduate degree in finance, and obtained a law degree from the University of Utah College of Law, where he was a member of the Utah Law Review.
Mr. Young is currently on the Board of Directors and Executive Committees of the Greater Salt Lake Area Chapter of the American Red Cross (www.utahredcross.org), and of the Boys’ & Girls’ Clubs of Greater Salt Lake (www.bgcgsl.org).
Mr. Young and his wife, Susan, have two children and reside in Salt Lake City, Utah. Mr. Young enjoys mountain biking, racquetball and skiing.
